Cecil Herbert Gunter was born July 2, 1930 in Carter County Missouri to Herbert Greene Gunter and Jessie Muriel Joplin Gunter. Went to meet his Heavenly Father on February 25, 2021.
On July 23, 1949 was united in marriage to Margaret Howe, who survives of the home. He is survived by one son, Cecil E. Gunter (Sarah) of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; only favorite daughter, Joyce L. Thorn of Dublin, Virginia; three grandsons, Cecil Gunter (Angie) of Poplar Bluff, John Gunter (Lisa) Scott Gunter (Joanne) of Corpus Christi,Texas; four great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Abner (Timmy), Harviell, Missouri, Taylor Colin (Christian Earwood), Madison Gunter, Colin Gunter of Corpus Christi, Texas; three great-great grandchildren, Zhoey Abner and Brycen Abner of Harviell and Riley Earwood of Corpus Christi, Texas. He is survived by a niece and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; one brother, Robert (Bob) Gunter; a very special granddaughter, Amy Thorn Harris and one grandson, Jimmy Gunter.
He was owner and operator of Gunter Sinclair and Gunter Appliance repair until his retirement. Mr. Gunter was a Member of the Masonic Lodge 209 of Poplar Bluff for 50 plus years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and his dogs.
Visitation will be from 4-8 Sunday February 28 at Fowler Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. Masonic rights will be at 7 p.m. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday March 1. Burial will follow at Joplin Cemetery in Grandin.
