City firefighters responded at 12:02 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, to a report of smoke coming from a building at 500 N. Main St. After arriving at location, firefighters determined that there was no smoke but there was steam coming from a vent in the area where the smoke was reportedly seen.

City firefighters responded at 1:24 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, to a report of an oven fire at 2609 Holly Hill Drive. Arriving at location, firefighters saw light smoke coming from building. After entering they were told by occupant that they were using the oven’s cleaning cycle and saw smoke and flames in the oven. Firefighters opened the oven and saw no flames. They used a fan to ventilate the building and cleared the scene when no more smoke was visible from the oven.

City firefighters responded at 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, to a report of a fire alarm at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. While en route dispatch informed crews contact had been made with the medical center staff and they informed dispatch a fire drill was taking place. Firefighters arrived on scene and after speaking with security cleared the scene.

Two people suffered serious injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 11:42 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, on Highway 21 at Highway 60 five miles east of Van Buren. According to the report, Sunshine M. Hilderbrand, 39, of Boss, Missouri was operating a 2000 Ford Fusion southbound on Highway 21 when she ran off the right side of the roadway and the vehicle overturned. Hilderbrand was transported by Air Evac 12 to St. Louis University Hospital. A passenger in the vehicle Deanna R. Leasor of Viburnum, Missouri was transported by East Carter Ambulance to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

A Doniphan man suffered serious injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 7:20 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 5, on Highway 67 five miles north of Poplar Bluff. According to the report, Rodney L. Knapp was travelling northbound on Highway 67 in a 2008 Ford F350 when he ran off the roadway and overturned damaging a stop sign. Knapp was transported by ambulance to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

A Belle, Missouri woman suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash on State Route TT five miles north of County Road 642 two miles south of Dudley. According to the report, Sarah A. Barnett, 41, was travelling northbound on State Route TT in a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 when she travelled of the left side of the roadway and struck an embankment. Barnett was transported by Stoddard County EMS to Southeast Health in Dexter.

Brittingham, 30, of Qulin was arrested at 12:34 a.m. in Butler County Friday, Feb. 5, on a Butler County warrant for stealing and on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, no seatbelt, no insurance, failure to drive on right half of roadway, failure to stop at stop sign, failure to signal, speeding, operating motor vehicle without license plate lamps, failure to yield to emergency vehicle, no valid license, failure to display valid plates, resisting arrest by fleeing, possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Brittingham was booked at the Butler County jail.
