City firefighters responded at 6:08 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, to a report of an unauthorized burn in the area of Wilson and Hays streets. Upon arrival, firefighters found a small unauthorized burn at 1903 Wilson Street and extinguished it using 10 gallons of water. The occupant at the location, Brittney Cooper, was advised of the cities burning ordinance.

City firefighters responded at 9:12 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29, to a vehicle accident at 225 Westwood Avenue. Upon arrival firefighters found a single vehicle accident with a person complaining of back pain. EMS arrived and transported the patient from scene.

City firefighters responded at 1:44 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, to 1302 West Harper Street #4 to assist EMS with loading a patient.

City firefighters responded at 4:23 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, to a reported shed fire at 13th Street and Tremont Street. Upon arrival, firefighters found a subject burning tree limbs outside in a barbecue grill on a vacant lot. Firefighters extinguished the fire using one gallon of water due to subject not having water source in the area.

City firefighters responded at 11:20 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, to a reported structure fire at 1020 Tremont Street #A. While en route, Poplar Bluff Police reported smoke showing from the second story of structure and that all occupants were evacuated. Firefighters extinguished the fire using 4,000 gallons of water. The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s office was called in to investigate.

City firefighters responded at 12:04 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, to a report of someone burning carpets at 910 Tremont Street. After searching multiple blocks, no fire was found.

City firefighters responded at 12:04 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, to 821 Sanders Street to a reported oven fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found light smoke coming from the house. Inside the oven they found the heating element glowing and a pizza box inside the oven. Firefighters extinguished the fire using one gallon of water. The occupant stated they had not turned the oven on. The occupant was advised to have their landlord service the oven before using it again.

City firefighters responded at 3:27 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, to 205 Sunset to a report of a fire alarm. Firefighters were notified by the alarm company it was a false alarm.

City firefighters responded at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, to 427 North Main #5 for a patient lift assist. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that patient had already been placed in ambulance and cleared the scene.

POPLAR BLUFF POLICE DEPARTMENT

Casey J. Rayfield, 33, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, on two warrants for larceny stealing and first-degree gun assault, and on suspicion of failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, driving while suspended/revoked and failure to affix motor vehicle plates. Rayfield was booked at the Butler County jail.

Derekis A. Johnson, 36, of the 2300 block of Arkansas was arrested at 11:40 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, on suspicion of third-degree assault. He was booked at the Butler County jail and later released.

Jason E. Lashley, 43, of the 800 block of Davis Street was arrested at 1:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, on a Greene County warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of stealing and on suspicion of third-degree domestic assault. He was booked at the Butler County jail.

Paige B. Duncan, 27, of Poplar Bluff was booked at the Butler County jail Saturday, Jan. 30, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL

Vicki S. Lawrence, 44, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 2:16 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, in Butler County on suspicion of DWI (prior offender) and failure to maintain right the half of roadway. Lawrence was booked at the Butler County jail and released.

Taylor L. Dugger, 20, of Dudley was arrested at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, in Stoddard County on suspicion of DWI, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to drive on the right side of the roadway. Dugger was booked at the Stoddard County Jail and released.

Joseph M. Politte, 33, of Bismark, Missouri, was arrested at 5:39 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, in Wayne County on three Iron County warrants, for probation violation, traffic violation and a violation of a court order, as well as on suspicion of driving without a valid license, failure to maintain insurance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Politte was booked at the Wayne County Sheriff’s office.

Kyle L. Moyers, 40 of Wayne County was arrested at 5:39 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, in Wayne County on a failure to appear warrant. He was booked at the Wayne County Sheriff’s office.
