City firefighters responded at 6:17 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, to 713 Ethel Street for a residential alarm. While en route, firefighters were notified by dispatch they had contacted the owner, Joanne Joned, and were told it was a false alarm. Firefighters continued to location to make sure owner was OK.

City firefighters responded at 5:42 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, to a report of a subject burning wires in the area of Woodrow, Hays and Wilson streets. After searching the area, no fire was found.

City firefighters responded at 4:32 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, to a report of a grass fire in the area of Ninth and Kinzer streets. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire in the yard next to the road and adjacent to 902 Kinzer Street. Firefighters contacted the owner, Angela Ballew, and notified her the burn needed to be extinguished by dark and cleared the scene.

City firefighters responded at 10:12 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, to a report of an alarm sounding at 913 Adam St. Upon arrival, firefighters could see no obvious signs of fire but proceeded to try to determine if anyone was at home and no one responded. Firefighters then tried to see inside the building but could not. Firefighters then used forcible entry tools to gain entry into the building and found no occupants or fire. The door was re-secured and the scene was cleared.
Larissa Nicole Hays, 37, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, in the 300 block of West Victor on a Butler County warrant for larceny. She was booked at the Butler County jail.
Marcus Deaner, 36, of the 100 block of Broadway in Neelyville was booked at the Butler County jail Saturday, Jan. 23, on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, second-degree property damage, first-degree stalking and delivery of a controlled substance.

He was booked at the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department.
