Charles B. Saulsbery Sr., 92, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father Jan. 10, 2021. He was born Oct. 29, 1928 in Willow Hill Township, Illinois, to Estle and Pansy Saulsbery. Charles B. Saulsbery Sr., 92, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father Jan. 10, 2021.

He was born Oct. 29, 1928 in Willow Hill Township, Illinois, to Estle and Pansy Saulsbery.

Charles, many knew him as Buck, was a veteran of the Air Force, worked as a civil servant for many years, and was a retired truck driver. He was an ordained deacon and a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Central City.

He was a quite man who loved God, his wife, and his family more than anything in this world. His sweet gentle spirit, loving heart and precious smile was contagious to everyone around him. He was a loving husband, Dad, Papa, brother and uncle and was loved by all in return.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Fern Conover Saulsbery of Fort Smith, Arkansas; daughter, Peggy Swink and husband, Jack, of Fort Smith; grandchildren, David Swink, Charla Calicott and husband John, Jonathan Swink and wife, Nickey, Charitta Palmer and husband, Aaron; great-grandchildren, Josiah Saulsbery, Quaide Swink, Rebekah Chronister, Rachel Calicott, Kaiya Swink, Koda Swink, Ben Calicott and Creek Swink and many nephews and nieces; and other family members who loved him dearly and will miss him so much.

He is preceded in death by his son, Charles Saulsbery II, and his parents and siblings.

Due to the circumstances, a graveside service will be held at a future date, to be announced, for family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, cards may be sent to his wife with any special memory you would like to share.

Cremation is under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
