BLOOMFIELD — Jess Coleman Sheehy, Jr., 88, of Sikeston, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
He was born Aug. 25, 1932 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to the late Jess Sheehy, Sr. and Jettie Freda (Miller.) He was a member of the United States Navy from 1952-1956 before receiving an honorable discharge.
He was the owner of Sheehy’s IGA in Sikeston from 1978-1987, and before retiring he was a salesman at the local Chrysler-Dodge dealership for 22 years. He also was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston.
He is survived by two sons, Rick (Lisa) Sheehy of Pensacola, Florida, and Jay (Teena) Sheehy of Sikeston; three grandchildren, Wayne Sheehy of Milton, Florida, Cole Sheehy of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Cord (Lauren) Sheehy of Columbia, Missouri.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Don and Gerald Sheehy.
There will be a private family service at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
The family has requested that any memorial donations be sent to Missouri Patriot P.A.W.S., a 501(c)3 organization which provides Missouri Military Veterans and first responders who suffer from PTSD and TBI a trained service dog, which are rescued from local shelters, at www.mopatriotpaws.org.
