CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A local man will soon be returned to Butler County where he faces charges in connection with a recent fatal home invasion.

Stacy Andrew Gipson appeared Wednesday morning before a judge in Kanawha County, West Virginia, for a hearing and waived extradition back to Missouri, according to the Butler County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

The 25-year-old had been held in a Kanawha County detention facility since his arrest Jan. 4 by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Poplar Bluff authorities had reached out to federal authorities in their search for Gipson, who was believed to be possibly at his mother’s residence in Charleston, West Virginia.

Gipson was arrested on a no-bond warrant, charging him with the Class A felonies of first-degree murder and first-degree assault, the Class B felony of first-degree attempted robbery and three unclassified felonies of armed criminal action.

Now that Gipson has waived extradition, “we are going to send somebody in the next few days” to bring him back, said Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs. “We are arranging a transport with our (deputies).”

Dobbs expects Gipson to be returned to Butler County by the first of next week.

Gipson is accused of causing the death of Kevin Sanders, 23, and the serious physical injury of Adriana Lundy, 23, by shooting them on Dec. 1.

The shooting occurred at about 10:30 p.m. Dec. 1 at Sanders’ residence in the 100 block of Begley Street.

Gipson and his codefendant, Christopher “Jantzen” Gilmore, allegedly had planned to rob Lundy for marijuana and money.

Gilmore, 22, of Poplar Bluff faces the same charges as Gipson. He is to appear at 1 p.m. Thursday before Associate Circuit Judge C. Wade Pierce for a preliminary hearing in his case.
