Steven D. Hall, 35, of New Madrid was arrested Friday, Dec. 25, at 9:25 p.m. on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), failure to yield to a signal, speeding and no seat belt. He was booked in the Butler County jail.

A 14-year-old Ava girl was killed in a one-vehicle crash Thursday, Dec. 24, at 9:35 p.m. on Highway 181 about three miles north of Dora.

According to the report, a 2010 driven by Madison R. Croney, 20, of Ava was driving southbound when she lost control and the vehicle skidded off the roadway and struck a tree.

Croney’s passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by Shawn Garrison with Howell County Ambulance at 10:55 p.m. Croney was taken by ambulance to Cox South Hospital in Springfield.

The juvenile was the 41st fatality for Troop G this year.

Wyatt Belew Easterday, 25, of the 300 block of Red Robin reported at 10:20 p.m. Friday, Dec. 25, damage to his residence in the 1700 block of County Road 565.

Thomas Levi Casey, 28, of the 5000 block of Linwood Drive reported at 12:22 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, that a WV-6000 hunting game camera was stolen off some hunting ground near County Road 502 on or around Nov. 29.
