City firefighters responded at 2:53 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, to a motor-vehicle crash at 1904 S. Westwood Blvd.
According to the report, firefighters had to use tools to gain access to the driver’s door on one of the vehicle. Firefighters also assisted emergency-medical-services personnel with patient care.

City firefighters responded at 4:49 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, to a report of an unauthorized burn in the 1700 block of Thomas Street.
According to the report, firefighters found Charles Harris burning trash in the back yard of his 1712 Thomas St. residence.
Firefighters reportedly told Harris about the city’s burn ordinance, and he put out the fire.

City firefighters responded at 9:28 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, to a report of an arching electric space heater at the 824 Park Ave. home owned by Uveta Matthews.
According to the report, firefighters found two space heaters were plugged in on the same circuit, and the breaker to that circuit had tripped. Matthews reportedly tried to reset it, and when she did, the breaker came loose from the breaker box.
Firefighters reportedly took the cover off the breaker box and secured the breaker.
Firefighters then moved one of the heater to another circuit, and they worked as they should.
Matthews was told not to use the space heaters while she was sleeping, and firefighters replaced the battery in one of her smoke detectors. Matthews also was given a smoke detector for her bedroom.
