A 35-year-old Malden woman was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, on Highway 51, four miles south of Qulin.

According to the report, Holly A. Matthews was operating a 2005 Toyota Scion northbound when she swerved to miss an animal in the road, which caused her car to run off the left side of the road.

Matthews then reportedly overcorrected, which caused her car to strike a tree and catch fire.

Matthews was flown to Regional One Health Center in Memphis, Tennessee, for treatment.

Her passengers, Kari R. Johnson, 33, and Hosea L. Robinson, 34, both of Kennett, were taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment. Johnson’s injuries were listed as moderate, while the patrol listed Robinson’s injuries as minor.
