Butler County school districts are preparing for the next round of board elections and filings open later this month.
Poplar Bluff R-I, Neelyville R-IV and Twin Rivers R-X each have two board seats open for the April election. Three Rivers College does not have an election this year.
All board members are elected for three-year terms.
Poplar Bluff R-I
The first day to file for a seat on the R-I school board is Dec. 15, with filing continuing through Jan. 19.
Those interested in filing for a seat need to go to Central Office, at 1110 N. Westwood Blvd. On the first and last days of filing, the office will have extended hours from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The office won’t be open on days when school isn’t in session due to inclement weather or health-related reasons. It also is closed for holidays.
The office will be open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Dec. 16-18, Jan. 4-8 and Jan. 11-15 for filing.
Candidates must wear face masks/coverings and observe district infection control rules at the time of filing.
The seats currently held by Tim Gaebler and Ken Davis are open for election.
The board appointed Gaebler in April to complete Heather Tuggle’s term after she stepped down.
Davis currently serves as the vice president and is in his second term on the board.
Neelyville R-IV
Filing for the Neelyville school board opens Dec. 15 and continues through Jan. 19.
Those interested can file at the Central Office, at 289 Broadway St. in Neelyville.
On the first and last day of filing, the office will have extended hours from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Otherwise, the office will be open from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. on weekdays.
The office will be closed Dec. 21 through Jan. 1 for winter break.
The seats currently held by Gene Russon and Jim Hover are up for election.
Twin Rivers R-X
Filing for the Twin Rivers board opens on Dec. 15 and continues through Jan. 19.
People interested can file at Central Office, at 9348 Highway 51 in Broseley, during normal business hours of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The office will be closed from Dec. 21 through Jan. 1 for winter break. Filing will not occur on days when the district is closed for inclement weather or because of health concerns.
On the last day of filing, Jan. 19, the office will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The seats currently are held by Keith Parker and Donna Sue Ashcraft-Fincher.
