Homicide investigation under way in Poplar Bluff

A person of interest has been identified as local authorities investigate a homicide, which occurred Tuesday night inside a Poplar Bluff home.

The homicide occurred a little after 10:30 p.m. at a home in the 100 block of Begley Street, said Poplar Bluff Police Lt. Josh Stewart.

“We have one 23-year-old male victim that was killed, and a 23-year-old female victim who also was injured,” Stewart said.

Neither victim, both of whom are Poplar Bluff residents, is being identified at this time, Stewart said.

The male victim was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Stewart said.

The female victim, he said, also was taken to the local hospital, but later transferred to another medical facility for treatment of what was described as “serious, but non-life threatening injuries.”

During the investigation, Stewart said, a person of interest was identified, but has not been located at this time.
