Letty Jean McDowell, 67, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020.
She was born in Poplar Bluff to the late Lloyd Surber and Inez (Mittlehauser) Surber. She was of the Methodist faith.
As a longtime resident of Butler County, she was well known as a teacher in the Poplar Bluff School System as a math teacher at junior and senior high. While not grading papers and making lesson plans, Letty enjoyed crocheting, bird watching, a good game of Cardinals baseball and most of all, her grandkids.
Letty is survived by one son, Clayton McDowell of Neelyville, one daughter, Kelly Batchelor of Poplar Bluff and three grandchildren, Tyler Lee McDowell of Honolulu, Hawaii, Kynzy Lynn Batchelor of Poplar Bluff and Mallory Inez McDowell of Neelyville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dennis Surber.
Visitations will be at the Fitch-Hillis Chapel from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2020 in the Fitch-Hillis Chapel with the Rev. Kent Wilfong officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Neelyville United Methodist Church. Attendees are recommended to wear masks and practice social distancing.
