Hariett Richmond

Hariett Marie Richmond, 85, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away Nov. 12, 2020 at Westwood Hills Healthcare in Poplar Bluff.

Marie was born Jan. 24, 1935 to the late Floyd Carpenter and Nora Laveta (Hamm) in Detroit, Michigan. She was married to John Wesley Roberts June 30, 1952. She later married Norman Richmond Jan. 15, 1972, in Carter County. They enjoyed 46 years of marriage before he preceded her in death March 11, 2018.

Marie enjoyed her rose bushes, in earlier years she enjoyed riding horses, she went to her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and horse shows. She was a devoted member of Southside Assembly of God in Poplar Bluff. She had worked at the Poplar Bluff Hospital, then was Dr. AF Brookreson’s clinical nurse before retiring as LPN from John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

Marie is survived by children, Sharon Wright, Ruth Gutterman (Glenn), Norma Richmond, Mary Maple (David), Daniel Richmond; grandchildren, Jennifer Chavez, Becky Davis, Clay Gutterman, Shelley Naydyhor, Heather Allen, Matthew Maple, Megan Hurst; 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Carpenter: sister, Patricia (Leroy) Tobin; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by husband, Norman Richmond; daughters, Debbie Roberts, Shannon Hurst; brother, Charles Carpenter, Donald Carpenter; son-in-law, Kenneth Wright; daughter-in-law, Sheila Richmond; sisters-in-law, Fay, Barbara and Lisa Carpenter.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2020 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kevin McAnulty officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Cemetery in Ripley County.
