Two Poplar Bluff teenagers were injured Tuesday night when the car they were riding in ran off the road and crashed into a parked car and a house on Harper Street.
According to Poplar Bluff Patrolman Brentyn Clark’s report, Keaton Doyle Rexroad, 16, of the 200 block of Century Avenue was operating a 2013 Dodge Charger eastbound on Harper when it ran off the right side of the road and collided with a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu. The Chevrolet reportedly was parked in the driveway at 950 W. Harper St. at the time of the collision.
Rexroad’s car then allegedly struck the northwest corner of 950 W. Harper St., causing damage to the residence and its front porch.
The collision allegedly caused the Chevrolet to move about 35 feet and strike the northwest coroner of 948 W. Harper St., causing damage to the residence.
Rexroad’s car also allegedly damaged a stop sign and culvert at the intersection of 10th and Harper streets.
A witness, according to Clark’s report, said she saw Rexroad’s car “traveling at a high rate of speed. She advised after the vehicle went over the hill, she observed a lot of smoke.”
Based on the damage, Clark said, it was determined “(Rexroad’s car) was traveling at excessive speed.”
No one in either home reportedly was injured, but Rexroad’s passengers — Alex N. Scott, 15, of the 1700 block of Illinois Avenue and Colby Grogran, 16, of the 1100 block of Fairmont Street — suffered minor injuries.
Scott was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment, while Grogran was transported by private vehicle.
City firefighters also responded to the scene and remained there until the vehicles were removed.
