Donnie Wayne Johnson, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, left this earth at the age of 70 Oct., 20, 2020 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Donnie was born Dec. 14, 1949 in Kennett, Missouri to Brice Johnson and Beulah Hanners-Johnson. Both preceded him in death.

Donnie enlisted in the United States Army in July 9, 1969 and proudly served his country in Vietnam for two years earning two Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars and numerous other medals of honor.

After returning home he worked for many years in bridge construction in both Arkansas and Missouri.

On July 15, 2013 he married his best friend, Linda Sue Johnson.

Donnie enjoyed his retirement years and loved spending time in his garden and tinkering around the house.

Donnie is survived by his wife, Linda Johnson; two sons, Donnie Patrick Johnson and wife, Amber, of Coldwater, Mississippi, and Matthew Johnson of Arkansas, two daughters, Dawn Murphy of Palestine, Arkansas and Kayla Langley of Poplar Bluff; one stepdaughter, Dena Johnston and son-in-law, Danny Burkett, two stepgranddaughters, Marina Johnston and Rhianna Johnston, all of Poplar Bluff, and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Fitch Hillis Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff immediately followed by a Military Honors service at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
