City firefighters responded at 10:13 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, to a report of a possible electrical short at the 2208 Trousdale residence occupied by Shane Ferrell and owned by Bob Sutton.
According to the report, Ferrell told firefighters there was a smoke smell, along with arching sounds, coming from the wall housing the breaker box. Ferrell had turned off the main breaker.
After checking the breaker box, firefighters told Ferrell to call an electrician before turning the power back on.

City firefighters responded at 10:47 a.m. Thursday to a trash fire in an abandoned cellar, located on the south corner of Wheatley School.
According to the report, the fire was in a barrel and on the ground and 50 gallons of water was used to put it out.

County firefighters responded at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, to a structure fire at 1557 Highway B.
According to the report, there was fire and smoke damage to the attic and throughout the home, owned Ken Grobe.

County firefighters responded at 8:09 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, to a fire involving a kitchen stove at 2602 Hickman Road, apartment two.
According the report, the fire involving a cooking pot was out upon the arrival of the fire department.
