Virginia “Ginny” Anne Stupy Cooper, 72, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, after battling cancer for the third time, surrounded by her family.

Ginny was born Sept. 29, 1947, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Perry O. Stupy and Dorothy M. (Skibo) Stupy.

She graduated from North Hills High School in 1965. In 1966, she joined Women’s Army Corps, communication specialist. She then moved to Poplar Bluff and was employed at the VA Medical Center until 1985 when she was reinstated to U.S. Postal Service and retired as postmaster at Harviell after 31 years, in 2002.

Ginny had many different passions through the years, volunteering her time at the American Legion on Bingo nights, traveling and collecting many items. Her true passion was the many sport and academic activities of her grandsons.

Ginny is survived by her daughter, Teresa “Terrie” Cooper (Ron); five grandsons, Nicholas Bunton, Nathen Bunton, J. Nash Bunton, Russell Bunton (Alex) and Ronnie Bunton (Brandy); great-grandchildren; sister, Dody Stupy Brady; brothers, Bruce Stupy, Michael Stupy and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, sister, Valery Stupy Scanlan, and one grandson, Michael James Cooper Bunton.

There will be an inurement Monday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m. in the Missouri State Veteran Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
