CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO — Local McDonald’s restaurants will celebrate area teachers this September with a week-long free beverage offer and the launch of the new McDonald’s Teach it Forward Outstanding Educator Awards.

Now through Friday, teachers can enjoy a free beverage of their choice in the drive-thru all day by showing a valid educator ID.

Participating McDonald’s include all three Poplar Bluff locations, as well as locations in Advance, Dexter, Doniphan, Malden, Piedmont and Van Buren.

Community members also can nominate outstanding teachers in grades K-12 for the McDonald’s Teach it Forward Outstanding Educator Awards.

The award will honor educators who exhibit the ultimate dedication to their students and contribute to the improvement of education in these challenging times. Nominations will be accepted online through Oct. 16 at www.surveymonkey.com/r/teachitforward2 .

“Our teachers are constantly adapting to whatever is thrown at them, while making sure our students succeed,” said local McDonald’s owner/operator Shannon Davis. “We hope to make teachers across our community feel special with a free beverage, but on top of that, we’re excited to recognize those who go above and beyond for our students through the Outstanding Educator awards.”

Winners of the outstanding educator award will each receive a $100 Visa gift card to use toward their classroom; a T-shirt; and certificate and McDonald’s coupons to “teach it forward” to parents with outstanding students throughout the year.

In addition to funds for their classrooms, the winners can recognize good behavior and academic success among their students with certificates and coupons for free McDonald’s items.

“We love the idea of paying it forward—or ‘teaching’ it forward—to recognize students who are also working so hard to keep up with the ever changing landscape of education today,” Davis said.
