Richard (Dicky) E. Eatherton, of Naylor, Missouri, passed away Sept. 11, 2020.

He was born Dec. 10, 1944 in Bunceton, Missouri.

Having grown up in the St. Louis area, Dicky moved his family to Marthasville, Missouri for a time, later settling in Naylor and opening Dicky’s Towing and Repair in the early 1980s. He treated people well---often waiting years for payment for a tow job rather than badgering someone about what they owed. For several years he also volunteered with the Oxly Fire Department as well as at the Ripley County Fair. Dicky was a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Oxly.

He believed in people--hoping for their success and helping them when he could, showing us the importance of giving to others and improving the world by example. In addition to the family who will miss him terribly, many local friends and neighbors could count on him for help when needed, as well as his funny stories and quick wit. His passing leaves an enormous void that words cannot describe.

He is survived by his wife, Chris, of Naylor; his daughters, Tracey of Ste. Genevieve, and Tammy of Oxly; and his three granddaughters, Melanie Rudd of Oxly, Alex and Drew Newman of Ste. Genevieve. Also surviving are three siblings, John Eatherton of Doniphan, Mary Jane Anderson of Doniphan, and Patti Vessels of Van Buren, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Sofrona Eatherton, as well as his brother, James “Jimmy” Eatherton.

Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020 starting at 1 p.m. with funeral starting at 3 p.m. in the Fowler and Sons Funeral Home in Neelyville, Missouri. Burial will be in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery with Lonnie Eatherton officiating
