The Margaret Harwell Art Museum in Poplar Bluff will feature Cindy Kopenhafer as its September and October gallery artist.
Kopenhafer, of Pleasant Hope, Missouri, will have works in oils, graphite, watercolor and pastels on display at the museum, said director Steve Whitworth.
“We are very excited to have one artist bring the highest level of skill in four different mediums,” said Whitworth.
Whitworth noted Kopenhafer is a protege of renowned artist Albert Handell.
“A lot of people around here follow his blog, and he called her work superb,” Whitworth explained.
An opening reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the museum, and the exhibit will be open through Oct. 25.
Around 50 pieces will be on display during the exhibit, Whitworth said, with most featuring a nature theme.
“She has a unique eye for nature,” Whitworth said.
Kopenhafer, Whitworth said, previously has had work exhibited at the museum in 2018, along with displays at the Edwardsville Art Center, Manifest Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio, the American Women Artists Online Juried Show, U-Art Online Show and David Bonner Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona.
She also belongs to several art organizations, including the Pastel Society of America, Mid-West Pastel Society, Watercolor Honor Society, Springfield Plein Air Artists and Springfield Life Drawing Group.
For patrons’ safety, several precautions will be in place during the exhibit, Whitworth said, including hand sanitizer and social distancing. Masks also are encouraged.
