Two residents and two staff members at Oakdale Care Center tested positive for COVID-19 last week, with no positive cases being reported at the other two facilities on the campus.
Neither Oakdale Assisted Living or Residential Care Facility have any current positive tests, officials with the facility report.
The Butler County Health Department announced 10 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the county’s total since late March up to 397. Four are hospitalized, 49 recommended to self-isolate and six deaths.
Oakdale Administrator Kim Wilson said families are contacted by letter and by phone with any updates.
Tests are collected by staff members and sent to a lab for processing. Wilson said results are normally available in 48-72 hours.
“That’s about as rapid as it gets right now,” she said.
When they started using the lab, recommended by the Missouri Department of Health and Human Services, staff was told results would be available within 24 hours. However, with an increased number of tests from around the state to run, Wilson said, that has slowed down some.
The shifts of those employees who tested positive are being covered by current staff, Wilson said.
According to current protocol, employees are screened when they report to work, residents have their vitals checked several times a day and visitors are not permitted. They also avoid communal dining and activities within the community.
