Mildred “Millie” Opal McClanahan, “Granny,” 76, of Centerville, Missouri, departed this life July 30, 2020, in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. She was born Nov. 28, 1943, at Bragg City, Missouri, to the late Anderson Pierce Foster and Lillie Marie Robertson Foster.
On Aug. 1, 1983, at Coon Island, Missouri, Millie was married to Robert McClanahan. He survives.
Also surviving are her children: Rhonda Hardin and husband Butch of Poplar Bluff, Missouri , Ronnie Hawks Jr. and wife Maria of Poplar Bluff, Melvin Hicks and wife Julie of Ozark, Arkansas and Chris McClanahan and wife Rachel of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Also surviving are two sisters, Delois Foll of Searcy, Arkansas, and Wilma K. Webb of Searcy; and one brother; Clifford Lynn Foster of Doniphan, Missouri. She is also survived by grandchildren, Justin Dover, Brittney Rodriguez, Chanda Dover, Ronnie Hawks III, Shona Fore, Olivia Hawks, Amber Hicks, Ashley Hicks and Austin Hicks, Parker McClanahan and Presley McClanahan and 18 great grandchildren.
Millie is preceded in death by her parents, as well as sisters, Lola Faye King, Lela Mae Foster and Margaret Black, and brothers William Foster, James Earl Foster, Clyde Foster, Sanford Junior Foster, Jessie Lloyd Foster and Clarence Hershel Foster.
She was a member of the Faith Community Church at Ellington, Missouri, and had been an elementary school teacher. She enjoyed scrapbooking, playing piano, accordion and singing with the church. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and also enjoyed genealogy .
Visitation for Millie will start at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, in the Fowler and Sons Funeral home of Neelyville, Missouri. Funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020, in the chapel. Burial will be in Brown Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Bruce Tremaine officiating.
