Dorothy Lee Compton of Dexter, daughter of late Hubert William Hudgens and Ruby Emma Sadler Compton, was born in Dexter on Oct. 11, 1932, and passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, on July 29, 2020, at the age of 87 years.
She was a lifelong resident of Dexter and had worked at International Hat Factory as a seamstress and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed collecting stamps, clocks, birds and doing genealogy.
Dorothy was married on April 24, 1977, in Virginia to Carroll Walker Compton, and he preceded her in death in February 2009.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Brandt, of Nixa, Missouri, and Sandra Miller of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; two sons, Darrell Brown of Cape Girardeau and Garry Brown of Kennett, Missouri; 13 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. Other relatives and friends survive.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Brown, and one brother, Dale Hudgens, and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, at 2 p.m. at the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.
Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery with the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all the arrangements.
