County firefighters responded at 2:13 p.m. Saturday, July 18, to a brush fire at the intersection of Highway W and County Road 504.
According to the report, the fire was controlled burn.

City firefighters responded at 1:41 p.m. Friday, July 17, to a gas line, which a been hit at 3202 Oak Grove Road.
According to the report, utility workers had struck a gas line while digging a hole with a backhoe. A worker with the gas company already was on the scene when firefighters arrived and was making arrangements to repair the leak.

City firefighters responded at 4.38 p.m. Friday, July 17, to a smoke scare at 914 Oakwood.
According to the report, firefighters were unable to detect a smoke odor in the residence. The occupant, Linda Hanner, thought the odor was coming from the air conditioning vents. The unit was running and seemed to be working properly. The property owner is Margaret Carter.

City firefighters responded at 8:03 p.m. Sunday, July 19, to a report of a possible electric fire at Hair FX, 2390 N. Westwood Blvd.
According to the report, a fire extinguisher was used, but the caller was unsure if the fire was out.
Upon arrival,firefighters found nothing was showing.
After making contact with the occupant, Shelby James, she reported they had unplugged the unit and used the extinguisher on the wiring. Firefighters used the department’s thermal-imaging camera and found no extension or heat. They told the occupant to have someone fix the wiring before using it again.
