A 15-year-old Poplar Bluff resident was injured in crash between a SUV and bicycle at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, June 21, near the intersection of Whispering Oaks and Virginia Avenue.
According to the report, Jessica Lynn Young, 35, of the 3400 block of Marble Hill Road was operating a 2019 GMC Yukon westbound on Whispering Oaks, approaching the stop sign, which was on the east side of the circle in the 1500 block.
At the same time, Jaron Shi of the 1600 block of Whispering Oaks reportedly was riding a bicycle along the southern rim of the circle, about to approach the same intersection with no stop sign.
Young allegedly stopped her SUV and did not see Shi riding into her path and struck his bicycle.
The accident wasn’t reported until Monday, June 22, because Shi and his mother did not think they needed it reported as Young had provided her name and telephone number.
In addition to the scrapes and bruises from “the tumble off his bike, Jaron had an episode of dizziness later that night at his home,” the report said.
The teen was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment and an accident report subsequently was completed.
