Carl Smith

Carl T. Smith, 81, of Poplar Bluff passed away Monday, June 22, 2020 at his home.

Carl was born on May 22, 1939 to Muriel and Arville Smith in Reynolds County. He married Barbara Ann Skaggs on March 17, 1962 in Van Buren.

Carl attended high school in Van Buren and went on to receive his Associates Degree from Three Rivers Community College in the very first graduating class. He proudly displayed his school’s colors of black and gold all through the years. Carl was of the Baptist faith. He retired as a surveyor for the Civil Service and also served in the United States Army. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and camping, but most of all he liked spending time with family.

Carl is survived by his wife, Barbara Smith; four sons, Scott L. Smith, Brian O. Smith (Michelle), and Greg E. Smith, all of Poplar Bluff, and Lynn W. Smith (Kelly) of Kennett; one brother, Ed Smith of Columbia, Mo.; four sisters, Dorene McCulloh of St. Louis, Janet Clark of St. Louis, Earlene Simms of St. Louis, Judi McKowan of Yuma, Ariz; and six grandchildren.

Carl was preceded by his parents; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Burns Young; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Smith; one brother, Doyle Smith; and one sister, Glenda Rauch.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with funeral service to follow beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Willow Ridge Chapel in Poplar Bluff.
