GREENVILLE — Wayne County authorities continue to search for an O’Fallon, Missouri, area man who was reported missing more than two weeks ago.

The disappearance of Patrick Norman Chapman “is suspicious at the least,” said Wayne County Sheriff Dean Finch.

The 34-year-old, Finch said, had friends living in Mill Spring.

“He’s known these people all his life; they reported him missing on May 30,” Finch said.

Chapman, he said, was last seen at his friends’ home on May 10.

“He left in the middle of the night,” Finch said. “When they got up, he was gone.”

Chapman is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing 155 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.

Finch said Chapman’s vehicle was found June 5 abandoned in the woods on a logging road off of a county road in the Mill Spring area.

The vehicle was “basically out in the middle of no where,” but within about a half mile of Mill Spring and a mile to mile and half from where he was last seen, Finch said.

Chapman’s wallet and bank card were found in the vehicle, which was processed by investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control.

DDCC investigators also were asked by Finch to help conduct interviews regarding Chapman’s disappearance.

On June 5, Finch said, a cadaver dog from the Dexter area was brought in to search the area with no results.

“Also, we had the local fire departments come out and search through the woods,” Finch said.

On June 10, Gateway Search Dogs Inc. from St. Louis brought two sets of dogs down and also searched the area with no results, said Finch, who indicated the teams were “very methodical” in their search.

At this time, Finch said, investigators are conducting interviews and following up on any leads.

Anyone with information regarding Chapman’s whereabouts in asked to call the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department at 573-224-3319.
