The Agee Community Club ladies met for a noon luncheon at Dexter BBQ in Poplar Bluff. Hostess for June was Jeanie Figgins.
Club president Cathy Womack opened the meeting with the ladies repeating the club motto, “When the Heart is full of Love the world is full of Beauty”.
Invocation was given by Nadine Johnson. Devotional was from Proverbs 23:22-24 about fathers and responsibility, read by Nickey Orton. Figgins read the secretary and treasurer reports. There was no new or old business.
Roll call was answered by saying; “What did your Dad teach you the most when you were a young child?” A poem from belated honorary club member Orel Smith was read by Womack, the poem is titled, “Pack Your Troubles Away”. Bingo was played for the door prize, and won by Womack, who will also be the hostess for July. Figgins gave a lesson on how many holidays there are in June, along with a handout to show grandkids and other family. Magazines were exchanged, Black River times was handed out. Each lady read something from that. Johnson brought an old article from the DAR that showed extreme flooding at the time a large down burst came through town causing great damage.
The ladies dismissed with repeating the club collect, “Be Still and Know that I am God”, Psalm 46:10.
