PUXICO, Mo. - Margie “Laverne” Snider, 92, the daughter of the late John and Freeda (Powell) Rodgers, was born in Mingo, Missouri on Aug. 28, 1927, and passed away at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri on June 7, 2020.
On Jan. 25, 1947 she married Floyd Snider in Bowling Green, Ohio. They spent the majority of their 62 years together in the St. Louis area. They had five cherished children, Brenda Lerch of Granite City, Illinois, Randall (Kathryn) Snider of Foristell, Missouri, Rodger Snider of Wentzville, Missouri, Kurtis (Karen) Snider of O’Fallon, Missouri and Francine Spinks of Wellsville, Missouri, 10 beloved grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one precious great-great-grandchild.​
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, as well as brothers, John, Vernon, Harold, Dean and Roy, sisters, Lovell, Carlyn and Leta, and two great-grandchildren, Kathleen and Tanyin. ​
She is survived by her two brothers, Jimmie and Dennis Rodgers; sisters, Rita Corlew and Ocia Bryant,;other relatives, extended family and numerous friends. ​
Laverne was a devoted wife and mother who loved caring for her family. She enjoyed quilting, word puzzles, reading, (especially her Bible) and music. She was a devout Christian and was always an active part of her church. She helped to plant mission churches, was a Sunday School teacher, youth Leader, and involved in Women’s Missions. She was a long time member of the Puxico General Baptist Church and considered it to be her home church even after moving to Wellsville, Missouri.
Family may call from noon-1 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2020 at the Puxico General Baptist Church in Puxico, Missouri with services at 1 p.m., officiated by Rev. Kenneth Lambert. ​
Interment will be at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri. Watkins and Sons Funeral Services of Puxico, Missouri will be in charge of arrangements.​
A “Celebration of Life” Service will be held for extended family and friends on Sept. 4, 2020 at Calvary Fellowship in Arnold, Mo. The family is looking forward to welcoming everyone at that time. ​
