City firefighters responded at 11:34 a.m. Saturday, May 30, to a reported of an electrical outlet overheating at the 924 Henderson St. residence occupied by Julie Hudson and owned by Carlos Hicks.
According to the report, Hudson told firefighters she had smelled a burning odor in a bedroom and found one of the outlets was discolored. Hudson reported she shut off the main breaker to her residence.
Firefighters used the department’s thermal-imaging camera to check for heat and found it was confined to the outlet itself.
After verifying the main breaker was off, firefighters reportedly removed the outlet from the outlet box to examine the wiring. Firefighters found the coating had melted off a short section of the wiring.
Hudson was told to contact Hicks to have the wiring fixed by an electrician before the power was turned back on to the house.
