James G. Vernon

James G. Vernon, 88, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020 at Mark Twain Caring Center.

Mr. Vernon, the son of the late James O. and Opal (Simpson) Vernon, was born Jan. 31, 1932 in Poplar Bluff. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and his Men’s Bible study group. He also contributed his time and talents helping the church prepare their Wednesday night meals. Mr. Vernon was a graduate of PBHS and a long-time local businessman. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working on the family farm.

Survivors include his son James L. Vernon, four grandchildren; James M. (Stacey) Vernon, Joseph D. (Cheryl) Vernon, Dr. Kim Vernon (Dr. Jose Mieryteran) and Sara Vernon Williams, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

One son, John Michael Vernon, preceded him in death.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
