City firefighters were returning from a call at 2:35 p.m. Sunday, May 3, when they noticed power lines down on Midland Street. They stayed on the scene until utility crews arrived.

Firefighters responded to a call at 2:09 p.m. Sunday, May 3, of a tree on a house at 2040 Brentwood Road. When they arrived, Municipal Utilities was notified of the situation.

City firefighters were dispatched at 1:39 p.m. Sunday, May 3, to a report of a tree on a house at 608 Hazel St. No. B. They checked for occupants inside the home, but they were found outside.

City firefighters responded to a call at 1:32 p.m. Sunday, May 3, of a tree on a house with a trapped person at the 117 W. Center St., owned by Phillip Metzing and occupied by Caitlin Calhoun and another.

Firefighters used chain saws to remove a potion of the collapsed roof and ceiling to get the person out. They were later checked by EMS crews.

City firefighters responded to an alarm at 1:29 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at the 1407 Parkview Dr. home occupied by David Turnbow.

During Sunday’s storm, the home’s dryer had been struck by lightning, and firefighters disconnected power to the unit to check it. No fire was found.

City firefighters responded to an alarm at 1:21 p.m. Sunday, May 3, of a structure fire at the 915 Winnie St. home, owned by Karen Huskey.

Upon their arrival, firefighters found a tree down on the house, but no fire. Municipal Utilities was called to the scene.
