The annual Butler County Exhibits & More event, scheduled for September, has been canceled.

“It was strictly off of donations from the community, and the group didn’t want to go around asking for any donations because everybody is hurting right now from the coronavirus,” said Stephanie Milner, University of Missouri Extension Service 4-H youth development specialist, who helps organize the event.

“If this (coronavirus) comes back in the fall like we’ve heard it could, that could be an issue, so we decided to take off a year,” Milner said.

This is the first time, Milner believes, the event has had to be canceled.

Last year, Butler County Exhibits & More had a great turnout Sept. 26-28 at the Black River Coliseum.

There were many entries including agriculture, horticulture and floriculture exhibits; home economics, 4-H, youth exhibits and the silent auction.

Questions, Milner said, can be referred to the Butler County University of Missouri Extension Center at 614 Lindsay Ave., Suite 3 in Poplar Bluff, and they can be called at 573-686-8064.
