James L. Martin, 73, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark. Mr. Martin, son of the late Elmer and Ruby Francis Martin, was born May 24, 1946, in Brickey, Ark.  He was a member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and was a farmer.  Mr. Martin enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, gardening and working on the tractor.  His greatest love was spending time with his family...

James L. Martin, 73, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Mr. Martin, son of the late Elmer and Ruby Francis Martin, was born May 24, 1946, in Brickey, Ark.  He was a member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and was a farmer.  Mr. Martin enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, gardening and working on the tractor.  His greatest love was spending time with his family.

He married Debbie Worley on Nov. 11, 1983 in Poplar Bluff.  She survives.

Other survivors include their son James Cody Martin and fiancée Amber Dern of Poplar Bluff; a brother Gene Martin; three sisters, Faye Holland and Hazel Green of Corning and Wanda Phillips and husband Frank of Pocahontas; a granddaughter Allison Martin and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Davis and Thelma Miller.

A private graveside service will be held Friday at Liberty Cemetery.  A public memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
