Martha Sturgell, 89, of Poplar Bluff passed away April 20, 2020 at Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center in Piedmont, Mo. She was born March 24, 1931 in Springfield, Mo., to the late Lee and Pauline McLean. Martha enjoyed reading, swimming, boating and being with her family.  She was a nurse, a homemaker and had managed a gift shop.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church...

Martha Sturgell, 89, of Poplar Bluff passed away April 20, 2020 at Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center in Piedmont, Mo.

She was born March 24, 1931 in Springfield, Mo., to the late Lee and Pauline McLean.

Martha enjoyed reading, swimming, boating and being with her family.  She was a nurse, a homemaker and had managed a gift shop.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

On June 10, 1949 she was united in marriage to Charles Sturgell.  He survives.  They enjoyed 70 years of marriage.  To that union was a daughter, Vicki Burns of Poplar Bluff, a grandson William Burns, brothers Lee McLean Jr. of Springfield, Mo., Doug McLean of Houston, Texas, and a sister Betty Fritts of Sonoma, Calif.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents and sister Helen Williams.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated for the repose of Martha’s soul, Thursday, April 23, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Officiating will be Father Daniel Robles and concelebrated by Father Daniel Hirtz.  The rite of committal and burial followed at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Sacred Heart Church or St. Vincent De Paul food pantry.
