KENNETT — The Dunklin County Health Department reported a death related to COVID-19 for the second straight day Thursday.
No other information was provided.
On Wednesday, the health department announced on Facebook, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce we have had our first death related to COVID-19 in Dunklin County.”
There have been 18 positive tests for the coronavirus in Dunklin County, which was one of the first in the Southeast region to report any cases.
Carter County reported a death related to COVID-19 on April 4. Cape Girardeau, Perry, St. Francois and Ste. Genevieve counties also have reported a death.
Of the 152 statewide deaths, 98 are from the St. Louis metropolitan area. As of Thursday afternoon, the state reported 5,111 positive cases of the virus.
Of the 18 cases in Dunklin County, six patients are age 60-69 while two are older. Three of the cases are in their 20s with three more in their 40s and two each are age 30-39 or 50-59. Nine patients have recovered.
