A Butler County juvenile was being treated at a St. Louis area hospital after being shot accidentally by another juvenile Friday afternoon, said Sheriff Mark Dobbs.
At 3:16 p.m. authorities received a call from a residence in the 1800 block of County Road 316 of an accidental shooting.
Dobbs said two juveniles were in the house handling a .22 caliber rifle and didn’t realize it was loaded. The weapon fired, striking the juvenile in the back of the head.
“Everybody needs to remember the importance of firearm safety, keeping guns unloaded and away from children,” Dobbs said. “Especially with so many kids at home with them out of school.”
