Walter Hollowell, Jr., 87, of Poplar Bluff, went to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, April 8, 2020.
Walter was born Dec. 25, 1932 in Broseley, Mo., to the late Walter Howell, Sr. and Era (Johnson) Howell. He had one brother, Arth “Bud” Hollowell, who preceded him in death and one sister, Marge Garner who survives.
After graduating high school in Qulin, Mo., he served in the United States Navy for four years. Then he went to college at Columbia, Mo.
He married Irene (Pigmon) Hollowell in August 1961. She preceded him in death October 13, 2012. They had two children: one daughter, Lisa Hollowell-Tinker and one son, Michael K. Hollowell, both survive.
Walter worked for Edwards Press Co. for 35 years before retiring in 1995.
Walter enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and going to the river and working in his yard.
He is survived by one daughter, Lisa Hollowell-Tinker of Poplar Bluff and one son, Michael K. Hollowell of Poplar Bluff and three grandchildren, Jodi Law of Poplar Bluff, Charissa Hollowell and Jason Hollowell of Scott City and three great-grandchildren.
He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church.
Walter was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and always had a smile on his face.
A small graveside service for family will be held Monday, April 13, 2020 at 11 a.m. in the City Cemetery and officiated by the Eld. Robert Duckett.
