The area will see a risk of hazardous weather and severe thunderstorms between about 7-10 p.m. tonight.

Robbie Myers, Butler County Emergency Management director, said there is a less than 5% chance of tornadoes, but a slightly higher chance of large hail from the storm.

The National Weather Service put out a tornado watch at 4:30 p.m. for the area to last until midnight.

The severe weather response team will be out around Butler County tonight, Myers said, keeping an eye on the situation.

Myers said due to COVID-19, should a tornado come through, which is unlikely tonight, the American Red Cross will not open regular storm shelters. However, he said, they will work with EMA and the health department to provide shelter to the populations who need it.

"We will not just say 'Sorry, because of social distancing, you're homeless tonight,'" he said.
