Editor's note: This is a daily briefing updating the latest information on the COVID-19 pandemic at 4 p.m. each day.
Butler County Emergency Management Director Robbie Myers explained the notification protocol if a COVID-19 test returns positive.
Myers said the county the person resides in is the one that gets notified.
"A person may work here, may even be tested here, but if they live in Carter County, Ripley County or Wayne County, when it comes back it will be reported to that county," Myers said.
That county's health department will conduct an investigation to check all of that person's contacts. During this investigation, if the health department determines the person had contact "of a significant amount" officials will reach out to those individuals with guidance about whether they should be tested or self-quarantine, Myers said.
The latest number of positive cases (as of 2 p.m.):
Butler County — 0
Reynolds County — 1
Stoddard County — 2
Ripley County — 2
Carter County — 2
Missouri — 838
U.S. — 135,499
Worldwide — 135,499
