City firefighters responded at 2:30 a.m. Monday, March 23, to a structure fire at the 1108 Mary St. residence, owned by Demonte Grant, 1909 Sanders St.
According to the report, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire showing upon their arrival and used 2,000 gallons of water to put out the fie.
Firefighters found gas leaking below the shut-off valve and contacted gas company personnel to respond.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

City firefighters responded at 1:51 a.m. Sunday, March 22, to a report of a rollover accident at the intersection of Barron Road and 14th Street.
According to the report, firefighters found a vehicle on its side and gained access to its interior by removing the vehicle’s windshield. Firefighters also gained access through the rear of the vehicle.
Firefighters were able to get the seat to lay back enough to move the occupant to a backboard and then out of the vehicle.
Firefighters assisted emergency-medical-services personnel in loading the person for transport to an area hospital for treatment.
Firefighters also used an absorbent to remove fluids from the road.

City firefighters responded at 11:48 a.m. Friday, March 20, to a report of a smoke detector sounding at a 121 S. B St. residence.
According to the report, neighbors told firefighters the detector had been sounding all morning. The home was checked and found to be secured.
Firefighters found a discarded smoke detector laying in the yard. It was sounding intermittently. Its battery was removed.

County firefighters responded at 4:24 p.m. Friday, March 20, to a structure fire at 224 County Road 574.
According to the report, the home, owned by Delbert Scott and occupied by Renee Gordon, was destroyed.
