Sophie “Dutch” Pruitt, 97, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Friday, March 13, 2020 at Westwood Hills Health Care Center in Poplar Bluff with her family at her side. “Dutch” was born Jan. 29, 1923 in Rhineland, Texas, the daughter of Fred and Margret (Wilde) Kuehler. Sophie “Dutch” Pruitt, 97, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Friday, March 13, 2020 at Westwood Hills Health Care Center in Poplar Bluff with her family at her side.

“Dutch” was born Jan. 29, 1923 in Rhineland, Texas, the daughter of Fred and Margret (Wilde) Kuehler. She was married to J.H. Pruitt, who preceded her in death in 1993.

“Dutch” was a devout Catholic who loved God, her church and all people. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, home health care worker for over 31 years and a friend to many.

“Dutch” was well traveled having lived in four countries, which were Greece, England, Egypt and Nigeria and nine states which were, Missouri, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, California, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Nebraska.

Amongst her favorite things wsere gardening and spending time with her family.

Survivors include, her children, Sheila (Mike) Winchester of Poplar Bluff, Pam Friday of Poplar Bluff, Jeff Pruitt of Poplar Bluff and Melanie (Gary) Sullivan of Scott City, Mo.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

A gathering of friends and family will take place in the chapel at Moore Funeral Service, 1100 Iron Bridge, Poplar Bluff, Mo. Tuesday, March 17, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

A service celebrating Sophie’s life will follow at 10:30 a.m.
