Glen Estel Urich of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020, after a 16-year battle with cancer.

Glen was born in Poplar Bluff on May 10, 1942, to Roy and Geneva Urich. He married Mary Clanahan Urich in June of 1963, and they had one son, Kelly.

Glen was a member of Carpenters local 1770s and helped build roads, bridges, hospitals, and a power plant over the course of his career. He also ran his own farm next to the same slough where he was raised. Glen’s favorite hobby was fishing, but he gave that up once he’d taken all the fish out of Lake Wappapello.

Glen attended Agee Fellowship Church. He was always ready to help family, friends or neighbors and we are all grateful for how that community has come together to support him and Mary through his final months.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Geneva, his sister Manon, and his brother Harold. He is survived by his wife Mary, his brother Lester, his children Kelly and Hillary, and granddaughters Maya and Ally, and his beloved dog Trixie.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, 701 Vine St. Poplar Bluff, MO 63901, with the funeral service following at 3 p.m. The Rev. Jim Schremp will officiate. Burial will be at Brown Chapel Cemetery in Broseley, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Agee Fellowship Church or the American Cancer Society.

Cotrell Funeral Service is honored to serve the family of Glen E. Urich; online condolences may be expressed at www.cotrellfuneralservice.com.
