A store closing sale begins today at Petsway in Poplar Bluff, one of three retail spaces the chain will shutter.
The other two stores closing are located in the St. Louis area, according to a press release.
The Poplar Bluff location opened in 2007.
It employs six associates, according to company officials. A final closing date has not been determined, they report.
Company officials say Petsway Inc., is an eight-location regional pet store chain, with stores located throughout Missouri.
“The decision to close our St. Louis area and Poplar Bluff stores was not made easily or quickly. However, it became increasingly apparent consolidating our store base would improve our operational efficiencies, and better position Petsway for future growth,” said Petsway’s Vice President Mr. Karl Keller ll. “On Feb. 19, we will start our closing sale in Poplar Bluff, and in our St. Louis and St. Peters locations on Feb. 20 and 21, respectively. In these three locations we will be liquidating the entire inventory, along with the furniture, fixtures, and equipment.”
The company said it will be selling at “aggressive discounts” and expects the inventory to sell out quickly.
“Our Store Closing Sale prices apply to just the St. Louis, St. Peters, and Poplar Bluff stores,” Keller said. “We will continue to operate our business as usual in our other locations.”.
Petsway was founded in 1951.
“It has been a privilege to have served the communities in and surrounding our St. Louis, St. Peters, and Poplar Bluff,” Keller said. “On behalf of Petsway, I want to thank all our loyal customers for their support and patronage.”
Company officials had not responded as of press to a request for additional information, including the number of employees at the Poplar Bluff location.
