Helen Virginia Birdsong, 87, of Williamsville, Mo. passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2020 at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Helen was born April 26, 1932 in Poplar Bluff, the daughter of Robert O. and Bessie (Mallady) Mauldin. On June 18, 1950, she married Fred Birdsong in Poplar Bluff at the Gospel Chapel. Together they shared more than 69 years of marriage.
Helen was a long-time member of Agee Community Church, she was also part of the Oak Grove Homemakers Club for 69 years. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, swimming and traveling.
Helen had a wonderful and bubbly personality and lived life to the fullest. She loved the Lord and worshipped him with her beautiful singing. Her greatest passion was helping others, whether it be by taking food to friends and neighbors or crocheting baby blankets or simply by being present in another’s time of need.
Helen had a deep love for her family and enjoyed spending quality time with them.
In addition to her husband, Helen is survived by her children, Danny Birdsong of Poplar Bluff, David Birdsong of Poplar Bluff, Doug Birdsong of Denver, Colo., Donna Pirc of Poplar Bluff, Darla (Terry) Pabst of Labadie, Mo. and Derenda (Greg) Diamond of St. Charles, Mo.; 19 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two half brothers and one sister, Opal (Mauldin) Boyett.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 21, 2020 from noon until the time of service, in the chapel at Moore Funeral Services, 1100 Iron Bridge Road, Poplar Bluff, Mo. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Nunn Cemetery.
