City firefighters responded at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, to a report of smoke in the 1500 block of Big Bend Road.
According to the report, firefighters found two small leaf fires smoldering at the 1507 Big Bend residence occupied by Keith French.
French reported to firefighters he thought the leaves were out, and he used a garden hose to put out the leaves.

City firefighters responded at 3:13 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, to a smoke detector sounding at 19807 Bradley St.
According to the report, firefighters found a pan on an electric range that had boiled over. There was no smoke or fire found.
Firefighters shut off the power to the range top.

City firefighters responded at 11:10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, to assist police officers with removing a dog from a vent at 930 Apple St.
According to the report, they were cancelled en route.

City firefighters responded at 4:05 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, to a report of a structure fire at the 806 Foley St. residence occupied by Roy McComb and owned by Terry Abner.
According to the report, firefighters found very light smoke showing upon their arrival.
Upon entering the home, firefighters found light smoke in the kitchen and an occupant throwing water from the sink faucet onto the ceiling area that was smoldering.
After the occupant left, firefighters found very little flames, but a 4 foot by 4 foot area of the ceiling still was smoldering from a fire in the attic.
Firefighters used five gallons of water to put out the fire and set up a ventilation fan.
Firefighters used a step ladder, pike pole and chain saw to remove the burned/smoldering area of ceiling and insulation.
Firefighters shoveled and swept all the debris and insulation onto the carport.
Municipal Utilities personnel arrived and disconnected the power to the home.
The Red Cross was contacted for the occupants.
Abner told firefighters he would have an electrician make repairs to the electric.

City firefighters responded at 6:48 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, to a report of an unauthorized burn at the intersection of Garfield and Harper streets.
According to the report, firefighters were told en route it was a grass fire burning near a utility pole. Firefighters used 10 gallons of water to put out the fire.

City firefighters responded at 3:49 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, to a report of a possible carbon monoxide issue at the 3019 N. 14th St. residence occupied by Alice Eddleman.
According to the report, firefighters used a multigas meter to check the residence and nothing was found. Firefighters installed a new detector in the home.

County firefighters responded at 11:56 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, to a report of smoke in an attic at the 194 Inman Drive residence owned by Kevin Wood.
According to the report, firefighters found the smoke was coming from the heating/ventilation/air conditioning unit, but there was no fire.
