City firefighters responded at 5:42 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, to a report of an unauthorized burn at the 807 Lester St. residence owned by Bob Pinkston.
According to the report, firefighters found a small fire burning in the rear of the residence against a gas meter.
A woman reportedly exited the rear of what was described as a condemned structure and told firefighters the fire wasn’t hers and she was just working on the house.
Firefighters contacted the police department due to the home being condemned and a door having been forced open.
Firefighters contacted Pinkston, who reported he had told the woman she could sleep there. Pinkston reportedly was told he could not allow someone to live in a condemned house with no utilities.
The woman reportedly told firefighters there was a man living upstairs in a separate apartment, but firefighters were unable to make entry because the door was locked.
