Gladys Swiney

Gladys Virginia Swiney of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Campbell, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020.

Mrs. Swiney, daughter of Amos and Lennie Baker, was born Dec. 12, 1927 in Campbell.

She retired from Kneibert Clinic in Poplar Bluff after approximately 30 years of service. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling with her daughter around the world.

On May 29, 1948, she was married to George Vaughn Swiney in Piggott, Ark., who preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 2000. Also, preceding her in death was one sister, Wanda Penrod, and one brother, Ray Baker.

Survivors include one daughter, Neda Gail Swiney of Crystal City; one son, Rex Dale Swiney (Connie) of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Junior Baker (Debbie) of Campbell, Donald Baker (Opal) of Melbourne, Fla.; one sister, Lois Housman (Ron) of Northville, Mich.; sister-in-law, Sharon Baker of Campbell; numerous nieces and nephews; two step-grandsons and two step-great-grandchildren.

There will be a private graveside service.

Landess Funeral Home in Campbell is in chargeo of arrangements.
