A Poplar Bluff woman pleaded guilty in federal court earlier this week to distributing heroin and Fentanyl.
Amber E. Wrinkle pleaded guilty as charged Tuesday to the felonies of distribution of heroin and distribution of Acetyl Fentanyl before U.S. District Judge Stephen Limbaugh Jr., according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul Hahn.
Wrinkle was among those arrested during a round-up in November in Butler County.
The agreed-upon facts of Wrinkle’s case say on July 3, 2018, officers with the SEMO Drug Task Force and Poplar Bluff Police Department conducted a controlled purchase of heroin from her.
“A cooperating individual purchased the heroin from Wrinkle in four individually packaged bags,” the plea agreement signed by Wrinkle says.
When Wrinkle “intentionally transferred the heroin to the cooperating individual, she knew the substance transferred was heroin,” the plea agreement further says.
The substance in one of the four bags reportedly was tested by a Missouri State Highway Patrol crime laboratory and found to contain .04 grams of a substance containing heroin and Acetyl Fentanyl.
The plea agreement further says on Aug. 30, 2018, Drug Task Force and police officers again conducted a controlled purchase of Acetyl Fentanyl from Wrinkle.
“A cooperating individual purchased what was purportedly heroin, but was actually Acetyl Fentanyl, from Wrinkle in eight individually packaged bags,” the plea agreement says.
Wrinkle reportedly knew the substance she sold to the cooperating individual was a controlled substance.
When one of the eight bags was analyzed at a patrol crime lab, it reportedly was found to contain .07 grams of a substance containing Acetyl Fentanyl.
After accepting Wrinkle’s plea, Hahn said, Limbaugh set sentencing for 11:40 a.m. April 21.
At that time, Wrinkle faces up to 20 years in federal prison on each charge and at least a three-year period of supervised release.
At sentencing, the government is expected to dismiss an additional felony of distribution of Acetyl Fentanyl.
